World Child Day
November 20, 2019 is World Child’s Day. Traditionally, the Children’s Session is held all over the world this day, when children and young people are given the opportunity to “manage” institutions for one day. Speaker of the school parliament Vladyslav Bosenko spent the day as a deputy. The “Children’s Session” was held in the form of a simulation game during which the members of the Student Inter-parliamentary Assembly became “deputies” of the Cherkasy City Council. For one day, along with members of the Student Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, he became a deputy of the Cherkasy City Council. During the session, the deputies’ doubles elected the secretary of the city council and the counting commission, which included Vladyslav. The meeting of the Children’s Session was held in the session hall of the Cherkasy City Council. Deputies’ committees have voiced the problematic issues of our city’s life activity in different branches, voted for proposals for their solution and will submit them to the mayor in the near future.
The game took place at the UNICEF Global Initiative, as the community of Cherkasy is part of the Community Friendly to Children and Youth. Therefore, UNICEF invited to join the event, providing all the necessary materials for the event, to demonstrate once again their openness and willingness to listen and hear children and young people in their community.
Today, actions are under way around the world to sign the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which this year marks 30 years since it was signed. This day is a good opportunity to be reminded of the rights of the children, as well as the opportunity to give their children the opportunity to speak and listen to their wishes.
