Embroidered Ukraine
Employees of the Department of Socio-Cultural Activities, Advertising and PR of the Cherkasy Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Taras Shevchenko held an educational and entertaining event “Embroidered Ukraine” for students of Cherkasy Specialized School of I-III Grades No. 3 on the occasion of World Embroidery Day. Students of grade 6-B (class teacher – Solomka O. M.) took part in the event. This special holiday unites Ukrainians all over the world, reminds of the richness of our culture and the invincibility of the national spirit.
The event began with a video presentation about embroidery – a true talisman of the Ukrainian people, the history of generations encoded in ornaments. Children learned about the meaning of different patterns and colours, traditions of Ukrainian clothing in different regions of Ukraine, as well as the symbolic power of embroidered clothing.
And then – a quiz game, during which schoolchildren actively answered questions about Ukrainian customs, folk art, guessed riddles and tested their knowledge about embroidery shirt. The atmosphere was friendly, interesting and fun!
