The third day of the school English Language Week became a real celebration of communication, discoveries and teamwork. Students from different classes immersed themselves in the fascinating world of Great Britain, practicing English in interactive and creative formats.
The youngest participants — students of the 3-I grade — held a bright conversation club together with the Swedish volunteer Bengt. With the help of a draw with flags, the children were united into teams, each of which represented one of the countries of the United Kingdom. Young researchers created projects, studying symbols, flags, landmarks and favourite activities of residents of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Communication with the guest was especially lively: the students boldly asked questions, discussed interesting locations and ways to spend their leisure time. And although during the work in groups there were emotional discussions about the distribution of roles, each team successfully presented a bright and meaningful poster. Bengt was happy to support the children, inspiring them not to be afraid to speak English. This meeting gave the students invaluable experience of live communication and taught them to work together for a common goal. The English-speaking trip was a success!
The conversation club was held with the support of English teacher Yehorov O. V., who helped create a friendly and motivating atmosphere.
The day was no less exciting for high school students. Students of grade 9-B, together with teacher Voitsekhovska O. V., took part in the cognitive quiz “How well do I know Great Britain?” Uniting in two teams, the participants demonstrated their knowledge of the country’s history, geography, traditions, and culture. The competition was intense, but friendly, and most importantly, cognitive. The students not only tested their knowledge, but also significantly deepened it, improving their listening and speaking skills.
Students of grade 10-A, together with teacher Voitsekhovska O. V., watched the video “101 facts about Great Britain”, after which they actively discussed what they saw. The students paid special attention to comparing some facts with the realities of Ukraine. Such discussions helped not only to broaden their horizons, but also to develop critical thinking.
The meeting of students of grades 6-I and 9-A, together with teacher Klymenko A. V., with a volunteer from Sweden, Knut, was interesting and informative. Together they discussed the traditions of celebrating Easter in Europe, Ukraine and Great Britain. This was a great opportunity to learn more about the cultural characteristics of different countries and find common ground between them.
In grade 11-A, under the leadership of teacher Karbivnycha I. V., an educational event “Interesting facts about Great Britain” was held, during which students got acquainted with little-known pages of the history, culture and traditions of this country.
During the day, a thematic exhibition dedicated to Great Britain was open in the hall on the second floor. Information materials, illustrations, paintings and symbols of the country were presented here, which complemented the content of the events and created an appropriate atmosphere.
As part of the week of foreign languages, students of grade 5-B, together with teacher Tsarenko N. V., got acquainted with the traditions and landmarks of Great Britain. The practical part of the event was of particular interest: using 3D puzzles, children created famous architectural monuments and London transport, such as Big Ben, Tower Bridge and red double-decker buses. In the process, students developed spatial thinking, worked in teams, improved their skills of cooperation and communication in English.
Students of grade 1-I, together with teacher Liashchenko A. O., also joined the week’s events, visiting an exhibition of creative works by other school students. The little girl enthusiastically examined the presented products, got acquainted with the symbols of Great Britain and received their first vivid impressions of the culture of another country.
The third day of the English Language Week once again proved: live communication, teamwork, emotions and discoveries – this is the real recipe for successful learning!
