The school has a successful practice in the development of skills for sustainable development in everyday life. The school community is proud of the achievements and successes in matters of responsible management of solid household waste.

On the eve of the introduction in Ukraine of a new law on separate collection of garbage from January 1, 2018, the school is the first in Cherkasy to have even more thorough and European waste disposed of. With the assistance of our foreign partners, the French company Bethan Engineering and the public organization “Ukraine without garbage”, a composting plant for the recycling of organic waste appeared and started to work at the school.

The Ecological Committee of the School Parliament presented to the parent community the principles of the work of the composting unit for the composting and practical application of the appliance in the household.

The compost is located on a special platform. Laying organic waste from school dining is done by students of profile classes, biology teachers and technicians. The obtained organic fertilizers will be used for feeding the “Ecological Valley” and other plantings in the school.

Note: Since November last year, with the financial support of the Government of the French Republic, the FASEP program launched the first pilot project in Ukraine for the comprehensive optimization of the waste recycling and recycling system in the city of Cherkasy. FASEP project is to address the issue of solid household waste management. A key element is the implementation of the educational work with the population.
