“Languages are important!” – this statement was chosen by UNESCO as the motto of International Mother Language Day.
On February 21, representatives of all nations and peoples of the world celebrate International Native Language Day. The holiday was launched in November 1999 at the thirtieth session of the General Conference of UNESCO in Paris. About “support for linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism” – sounded in the title of the document. The International holiday of the native language was to serve as a protection of language as a cultural heritage of each individual nationality, of every nation on our planet.
Native language for every person is an important element of cultural consciousness. It accumulates the traditions and experience of previous generations and allows them to be passed on to their descendants. Language is the history of the people, their outlook, and the intellectual and spiritual result of several thousand years of evolution of each ethnic group. Without its language, its original culture there is no people. Attracting the attention of the international community to this topic is an important step towards recognizing the need to protect the diversity of cultures.
In the language, the nation encodes its entire history, centuries-old experience, cultural achievements, and spiritual identity.
The language for every nation becomes like the second nature surrounding it, lives with it everywhere and always. Without it, like without the sun, the air, plants, a person cannot exist. As a great misfortune, the destruction of nature rotates, and painfully affects the people by renouncing their mother tongue or even disrespecting it, which is equivalent to disrespect for father and mother.
Let’s recall the words of V. Sosiura: “Without the language of our native, young man, and our nation is not.” The level of development of the native language is a source of spiritual development of the people. And according to E.M. Vereshchagin and V.G.Kostomarov, “the national language is included in the concept of national culture, because the natural conditions, geographical position, level and specialization of the national economy, the tendency of social thought, science, art – all the big and small features the life of the people are reflected in the language of this people. ” Therefore, to know, to preserve and to increase the native language is a duty of every person. Schoolchildren of our school today also joined the celebration of their native language. During the day, junior pupils competed in the one who unravels all the words with missed letters. And the students of grades 5-9 took part in the quest “Let’s celebrate the native language!” Their trip was at 5 stations, each of which should be guessed and only the last station marked on the route will give the right to participate in the final. Wall papers “Let’s Talk Ukrainian”, leaflets and posters testify to the indifference of the students to the celebration.
The final of today is the holiday of the native language “About the word of the native!”, where poems, songs, screenings and tanks were heard.
The winners of the quest were awarded with certificates and prizes:
6-A, 8-B, 5-A, 7-B, 7-A, 9-B classes
