#EngineeringWeek Day Five An interesting, research-rich and information-rich week has come to an end. Each such day gave students the opportunity to immerse themselves in science, to get to know the world better. Students of the 7th grade worked on the implementation of the project “Light at Home”. Young engineers made a postcard from a diode, foil and batteries that lights up the windows of the house with warm light. May Easter bring peaceful warm light to every Ukrainian home.
Students of the 1st grade joined in the creation of inventions, namely, mechanical telephones. Most of the children had not seen a wired landline telephone, so it was interesting for them to immerse themselves in the history of the emergence of the telephone, try to make one themselves and test its operation.
Students of the 1st grade got acquainted with the interaction of chemical and physical phenomena. We investigated how knowledge about the interaction of chemicals can be used in life, how carbon dioxide is released during the interaction of soda and vinegar, which gas inflates a balloon.
Our fifth-graders created an interesting dynamic toy with their own hands – “Acrobat”, which combines physics, technology and imagination. This project not only develops engineering thinking, but also gives the joy of creativity and knowledge. We are proud of our young technicians.
Students of grade 5-B took part in an exciting project to build a bridge by Leonardo da Vinci, using ordinary ice cream sticks. Children worked in teams, exploring the principles of engineering and physics that the famous Italian inventor used. Students learned to create a stable structure without using glue or nails – only thanks to the force of friction and the correct arrangement of parts. This experiment not only developed the spatial thinking and imagination of schoolchildren, but also demonstrated how interesting science can be.
Children of 7-A grade joined in making the Domino figure using the origami technique. During the study, students also generalized knowledge on the topic of angles and ways to construct quadrilaterals using drawing tools. Working on the project contributed to the development of spatial thinking, the formation of analytical and logical thinking skills.
Students of 2-I grade investigated how storms form on other planets, and launched a “rocket”.
Students of 9-B grade experimented with extracting DNA molecules from bananas and kiwi. Imagine the surprise of the students when they learned that table salt, detergent and very chilled alcohol are all that is needed to isolate a banana DNA molecule.
Young researchers from 4-B grade joined the project – the study “Rainbow in a Glass”, which helped to get the answer to what concentration is.
Students from 11-B grade created a model that demonstrates the Solar and Lunar eclipses. They learned that lunar eclipses are colourful – and each time different. A model created by yourself is interesting, informative, exciting.
It was a time when everyone could try themselves as a researcher, engineer, architect. Engineering is the treatment of complex diseases and the conquest of space – a process during which theoretical science acquires practical application.
