The 11B grade pupil Natalia Kolomiets and Iryna Vovk (head Dovhal L.V.) became the winners of the All-Ukrainian Biological Forum “Touch of Nature”. Natalia Kolomiets presented her project “Distribution of invasive species Harmonia axyridis in the territory of Cherkasy city” in the section “Zoology”. Iryna Vovk performed in the section “Botany” with a research project “Morphological and environmental factors for the formation of high quality corn hybrids”. In a fierce scientific struggle, based on the results of a transparent open-ended evaluation conducted by a jury of scientists from leading universities of Ukraine Natalia Kolomiets became the absolute champion in the section “Zoology”, receiving the only one place. Iryna Vovk became the silver winner in the section “Botany”, choosing the second place among more than 20 projects. Girls got an invaluable experience in conducting scientific discussions and protecting their scientific achievements, getting acquainted and engaging with future young scholars from all over Ukraine.

Note: The Forum was held at the National Ecological and Naturalistic Center of Student Youth, supported by the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, National University of Bio-resources and Nature Management of Ukraine. The forum was attended by students of general, extracurricular, vocational and higher education students who had experience in research and experimental work in the fields of natural sciences. 164 scientific projects were presented in the final, according to the categories: Anatomy and Human Physiology, Botany, Ecology and Environmental Problems, Energy Saving Technologies, Zoology, Microbiology, Earth Sciences (Geography, Geology), Psychology and Health, Physics and Astronomy, Chemistry and Biochemistry. During the course of the competition, innovative projects were identified that deserve the introduction into human practice. According to the jury protocols, 83 contestants were recognized as winners and prize winners. The finalists received prizes and presents from the official partners of the Forum.
