World Savings Day and Finance Week
The Financial Literacy Project A busy day was a week on financial literacy. Pupils of the 10th and 11th grades went on excursions to the branch – Raiffeisen Bank Aval. The meeting of high school students with representatives of the bank and the Cherkasy University of Banking was aimed at introducing students to the possibilities of modern banking products (FUNcard service package – loyalty cards, features of the mobile application FUNcard). The students were particularly interested in the rules of protecting their money from fraud and how to protect themselves from criminals.
Students of 9-A class visited the branches of Ukrgasbank. The armored car, the modern coins of Ukraine, new notes, various quizzes – all 9th graders had the pleasure of feeling like a consumer of banking services.
The school continues to cooperate with Privatbank. Important steps have already been taken to bring banking services to the world, as modern schoolchildren are actively taking advantage of banking services. The students of the school are pleased to use the Junior card. Dining rooms at school have banking terminals, and students can pay for lunch with a Junior card. This innovation simplifies and expedites the payment process. Using the card will allow students not to carry cash to school, and parents – to know what their child buys, because they receive a message on the phone. For the 2-B, 2-A and 1-B classes, the head of “Union Bank” of Cherkasy GRU PJSC CB “Privatbank” Andrii Vovchenko conducted excursions and answered the questions of the students in detail.
Various activities took place at school. Grade 5-A students took part in the Economic Quest and held first-class master classes and taught them to make bank card payments on their own. By using the Six Bricks technique, fifth graders were able to explain concepts such as “barter”, “money”, “product” and “currency”. The youngest educators can now use the Junior Cards on their own, not only in the school cafeteria but also in their daily lives, taking full advantage of the Bonus + program as a type of accumulation.
Within the framework of the week, the speaker of the school, 10-A student Bosenko Vladyslav held financial literacy lessons for 5-A and 5-B students, devoted to the circulation of banknotes of Ukrainian hryvnia of face value 1000 UAH. The students thoroughly analyzed the degree of protection of notes, which to pay attention to distinguish counterfeit notes from genuine.
Financial literacy will provide a better understanding of the practical aspects of financial issues (saving, investing, borrowing, insurance, lending, etc.) to young generations of Ukrainians; will facilitate the development of leadership initiatives, the ability to successfully operate in a rapidly changing technological environment.
