Every year on the third Thursday of May, Ukraine celebrates the unique national holiday – the Day of embroidery. This holiday is original and not tied to any state or religious. However, millions of Ukrainians on this day get their national clothes – vyshyvanka, from the closet, and go to work or to school. Our school family is actively involved in the action for a year. On this day, traditionally, pupils and teachers can be seen in colorful national clothes, and girls – even in colorful corners.
From the very morning, in the yard of the school, students, parents and teachers of the Nurses conducted a flash-mob “The heart of the school”. During the day, all interested persons were able to join the action “Stop for a moment”. Teacher of Fine Arts Plakhotnia G.L. for students of the 7th grade held a master class “Names Encrypted in Vyshyvanka”. Girls of grades 1-5 became participants of the competition “Ukrainian by I was born …”, which won the representatives of 3-A class, which showed the greatest number and originality of the corolla. The most active students under the guidance of the teacher of elementary classes Harazhun L.V. presented a sign composition for the song “Mother’s Shirt”, which was prepared in advance. This day was accompanied by smiling faces and a good mood.
Note: 13 years ago a student of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University, Lesya Voronyuk, launched the “World Vyshyvanka Day”. Inspired by this Igor Zhytaryk is regularly dressed an embroidered shirt for classes. Lesya offered classmates and students to choose one day and put together embroidered clothes. At first, a few dozen students and several faculty teachers dressed national clothes. But during the following years the holiday grew to the all-Ukrainian level. Ukrainian diaspora around the world, as well as supporters of Ukraine, joined the Day of Embroidery. On this day, Ukrainians unite in one idea and show that they have their own identity and national code. On this day it’s worth remembering your national and civic stances, cultural enlightenment and spiritual consciousness.
