Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism
On May 8, Ukraine celebrates the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in the Second World War of 1939–1945. This is a day of honouring the memory of millions of dead, the destroyed destinies and the feat of all who fought against Nazism during the war.
In 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law “On the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in the Second World War of 1939–1945”, which established May 8 as the only official date for commemorating the victory over Nazism (Law of Ukraine No. 3107-IX of May 29, 2023).
Today, our educational institution held online thematic classes, lessons on Memory: “We remember our heroes”, “The people need peace like water…”, “Memory for the sake of the future”, “We remember, we win”. During which the students deepened their knowledge of the heroic past of our people, fostered a sense of patriotism, courage, and love for the Motherland, and honoured the memory of those who died in World War II with a minute of silence.
Today, more than ever, the younger generation understands that peace is the greatest wealth on Earth. We study our history, honour and remember those who defended peace during World War II, and pray for the defenders who defend it in Ukraine today. We learn historical lessons that the Ukrainian people win when we are united, united. This memory makes us stronger.
The traditional slogan of these memorable days “We remember – we win!” is especially relevant this year. We are absolutely sure: victory will be for Ukraine!
We remember those who fought for Ukraine during World War II! We honour those who fight for it today!
