Memorial Day of the Kruty Heroes
On January 29, Ukraine honours the memory of the Kruty Heroes, who in 1918 stopped the rapid advance of the Bolsheviks on the capital. The delay of the enemy allowed the Ukrainian delegation to conclude the Brest Peace Treaty, by which Western countries recognized the UNR as an independent state on the world stage. Today, a number of events were held: a book exhibition and a presentation of thematic drawings were held in the school library. An hour of historical truth “Kruty – the unquenchable fire of Ukrainian will” was held for high school students. Students in grades 8-9 watched the documentary “Remember about Kruty”.
In history lessons, students in grades 10 and 11 presented their research “Fighters for the freedom of Ukraine”.
Let us remember that independence and freedom are not a gift, but the result of the sacrificial struggle of many generations. The memory of the Heroes of Kruty calls us to appreciate what we have and to be ready to defend it from the enemy.
