It is difficult to imagine a modern life without the achievements of science. After all, only thanks to science, humanity has reached the progress of development has gone from the first attempts to study the world to space flight and nanotechnology. In order to assess the merits of science to society, on the third Saturday in May, Ukraine celebrates a professional holiday of science workers.
The holiday was introduced in Ukraine “… in support of the initiative of renowned scholars, scientific institutions, and professional unions of Ukraine …” in accordance with the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On the Day of Science” dated February 14, 1997, No. 145/97.
The purpose of this holiday is to celebrate the scientific traditions, the achievements of scientists, which we are quite rightly proud of, and on which we have high expectations.
Ukraine’s scientific potential is considered to be one of the best in Europe. Ukrainian scientists are the authors of many inventions in various fields of science.
The Day of Science is celebrated by the staff of 167 scientific institutions that are part of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. Their scientific achievements are represented by works of 12740 thousand highly skilled scientific specialists. According to statistics, about 35,000 people are currently employed in institutions under the control of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. In addition, scientific developments are constantly being conducted in 330 higher educational establishments of the country, which also holds the celebration of the Day of Science.
In the afternoon of this holiday, we invited our friends to the school – Cherkasy National University of B. Khmelnitsky from the educational-scientific institute of natural sciences from the department of biology and biochemistry Nazarenko Natalia Volodymyrivna, candidate of pedagogical sciences, associate professor; Iryna Shmygol, Ph.D. in Pedagogy, Senior Lecturer and Kucher Vita Volodymyrivna, Senior Laboratory; from the Department of Chemistry and Nanomaterialology Boyko Vira Ivanivna, Ph.D. in Chemistry, associate professor, Lyudmila Y. Temata, Senior Laboratory; Cherkasy State Technological University from the chemical-technological faculty of the Department of Chemical Technologies and Water Treatment Dzhigora Julia Victorivna, postgraduate student. School pupils have witnessed modern experiments, experiments and scientific advances about the protection of the human body from harmful effects and food.
We sincerely congratulate the scientists and all those involved in the science of citizens with the holiday of creative work – the Day of Science!
