Alternative Energy Sources
For students of grades 9-11, unconventional lessons in physics were conducted on the basis of Cherkasy State Technological University. The concept of the “New Ukrainian School” implies an increase in practical hours in the study of natural sciences. The school uses every opportunity to consolidate the students’ theoretical knowledge in practice. In CSTU senior students got acquainted with the technology of power generation by the autonomous solar power plant, which is installed on the roof of the second building, and is a pilot sample. Students saw the whole process of transforming solar energy into electric, familiar with the various instruments used in this. Students took part in an experiment to test the efficiency of using incandescent lamps, fluorescent and LEDs.
Note: An autonomous solar power plant is part of the Cherkasy Green Energy Efficiency Project. This project is being implemented by the ChSTU through the grant provided through the LINK Program of the Regional Environmental Center for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and funded by the Ministry of Environment and the Environment of Norway.
