European Day of Languages 2020
Today, our school celebrated European Day of Languages, a holiday celebrated on September 26 to encourage the study of European languages both at school and abroad throughout life. This holiday reminds of the diversity of languages and cultures in the world, helps students to expand their worldview and find something interesting and useful for themselves, as well as understand the importance of learning foreign languages.
The day began in the school hall with an interactive game “I know Europe”, during which students and teachers matched the names of European countries and their capitals. The children shared their knowledge with great pleasure and showed their interest and creativity.
Students in each class represented a particular European country with flag-colored clothing and posters with information about the country near their class.
During the breaks, school students took part in interesting quizzes “Guess the European country”, “Guess the dish” and quests – “What do you know about European languages?”, During which they listened to foreign songs, learned European dishes, tested their knowledge of countries , and also tried to guess the country of Europe on its traditional symbols. Students in grades 5-11 joined the “Greet in European” challenge, demonstrating their knowledge of foreign languages taught at school and in many other neighboring countries of our country. Fifth graders presented their projects called “Friendly city”, in which they reflected the best and most environmentally friendly, in their opinion, cities in Europe.
The 9-A students competed in the French-language game “What do you know about France?”, in which they recalled little-known facts about France. The fifth-graders traveled to France, taking part in a quiz on the knowledge of French symbols “10 symboles de la France”. In the end, they made palms in the form of French flags, presented their drawings.
Students of 7-A and 8-A took part in the game-quest – “Qu’est-ce que tu connais sur la France?” What do you know about France?”. The game-quest offered students to pass 7 stations – Station “Translator”, “Association”, “Ukraine”, “France”, “Creator”, “Paris”, “Communication”. Students gained knowledge about the history, culture and interesting facts of France.
The day was interesting and meaningful and gave many unforgettable impressions.
