On April 23, the 18th All-Ukrainian Language Conference “Language as the Genetic Code of the People: From the Past to the Present” was held at Cherkasy Specialized School of I-III Degrees No. 28. Teachers and students from different regions of Ukraine, Romania, and the USA were able to join online. The conference was opened by the following honourable guests: Anastasia Chubina, Deputy Mayor of Cherkasy, Liudmyla Yushchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Professional Development of Teachers of the Cherkasy Regional Institute of Postgraduate Education of Pedagogical Workers, Valentyna Kovalenko, poet, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine, Liliia Bondarenko, project manager of the Ukrainian Free University (Munich).
Our school was represented by 10-A grade students Didenko Diana and Khandii Yulia (teacher – Solomka O. M.). In her mini-study, Didenko Diana outlined the reasons for the appearance of neologisms in the language, the features of their use, explored the lexical meaning of lexical and semantic neologisms, highlighted military vocabulary – neologisms that are due to the challenges of the time; borrowed words and words that arose due to the redistribution of meanings and reactivation (the revival of words from the past). Diana conducted a thorough study of general language and individual-author neologisms, noting that the language is actively developing and enriched with new lexemes.
Yuliia Khandii made a presentation on the topic “Functioning of the Ukrainian language in the context of modern challenges”, emphasizing the relevance of using the native language in the context of the rapid development of digital technologies, in the media, education, culture and business.
At the end of the conference, Didenko Diana was awarded the honorary book “Fighting Shevchenko” by the professor of ChSTU for a thorough study of neologisms of the Ukrainian language, and all participants of the conference received honorary diplomas of participants, and their creative directors received thanks from the school principal.
As a result of the conference, the main idea was highlighted: language is Ukraine, the nation and the people. Language is a symbol of resistance. In the conditions of war, the Ukrainian language became a powerful symbol of identity and unity, an unchanging code of the nation.
We wish Didenko Diana, Khandii Yulia and their moderator Solomka O. M. further creative realization!
