Unity Day

Every year on January 22, the day of the proclamation of the Act of Union of the Ukrainian People’s Republic and the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic, Ukraine celebrates Unity Day. Officially, this holiday was established by the Decree of the President of Ukraine “On the Day of Union of Ukraine” dated January 21, 1999 No. 42. The Act of Union, proclaimed 105 years ago, on January 22, 1919, on Sophia Square in Kyiv, became an epoch-making historical event when the Ukrainian lands were united into one state.
The “Universal of Union” read at the meeting, in particular, noted: “Today, the parts of a single Ukraine that have been separated from each other for centuries are merging together – the Western Ukrainian People’s Republic (Galicia, Bukovina, Hungarian Rus’) and the Dnieper Great Ukraine. The age-old dreams that the best sons of Ukraine lived and died for have come true. Today there is a single independent Ukrainian People’s Republic.” This day has become a symbol of Ukrainian statehood, embodying the unification aspirations of Ukrainians for consolidation in one state.
The Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance has created a selection of information materials for the Unification Day of Ukraine – 2025, which we offer to familiarize yourself with at the link https://drive.google.com/file/d/15pCzx2aE6fvtXmMCcMfaEf4zxszkaaRS/view?usp=sharing
